and Hypnotherapy®

Dr. Shannon Dominguez DCH, Doctor of Clinical Hypnotherapy, is certified in clinical hypnotherapy and in private practice since 1993. Dr. Dominguez is a certified professional member with the National Guild of Hypnotists, International Medical and Dental Hypnotherapy Association, National League of Medical Hypnotherapists, International Hypnosis Federation and International Society for Investigative and Forensic Hypnosis.

Each year she attends professional hypnosis conferences to stay up-to-date on the latest hypnosis techniques and innovations. She specializes in medical hypnosis by physician/therapist referral, helping people manage pain, symptoms and side effects from the treatment of chemotherapy and radiation, symptoms from anxiety disorders, digestive disorders, and assists clients in preparation for surgery and transplantation – pre through post hospital stay. She is highly trained in numerous disciplines of hypnotism and offers consulting services and supervision to other hypnotists, hypnotherapists and medical professionals.  Dr. Dominguez donates approximately 300 hours of her time yearly to clients seeking hypnosis support for cancer and/or other medically diagnosed issues.

Professional and amateur athletes have been booking appointments for Sports Hypnosis to create peak performance enhancement of their game, focus, and confidence during tournaments and competitions for all sports (golf, tennis, surfing, and more). Please refer to the “Sports Hypnosis” section for more information.

Dr. Dominguez has worked with thousands of clients in her 30 years in the field of hypnosis, and enjoys helping a wide variety of clientele, including adults and children, entertainment industry professionals and celebrities, best selling authors, professional and amateur athletes, private industry CEOs/staff, fortune 500 companies, law enforcement and veterans. She works with clients from around the world who come to Maui or request phone, Zoom, FaceTime, Skype and WhatsApp sessions seeking out her specialized services and techniques.

She is a gifted intuitive, sensitive to the needs and concerns of others, and has always been drawn to helping people from children to the elderly. Giving back to the community is a big part of her life. When time permits, Shannon enjoys volunteer work, training therapy dogs and animals, evaluating and testing therapy dogs, emotional support and service dogs and riding horses in the emerald green pastures of upcountry Maui. Her love for animals was complemented by her retirement of 22 years as the non-profit Director of Haku Baldwin Center and Founder of Maui Therapy Animals 501(c)(3) non-profit working in the field of Animal-Assisted Therapy (AAT) visiting over 500 patients monthly, and teaching Humane Animal Education to thousands of preschool and middle school students.

Shannon proudly and personally served over 200,000 patient visitations along with her employees, numerous volunteers, and 75 therapy animals. She also developed and directed a world renown international AAT internship program teaching physicians, healthcare professionals, psychiatrists, therapists, social workers, physical and occupational therapists the benefits of AAT and how to develop similar programs in their respective countries and field of work.  Her greatest accomplishment in this field concluded with her 10 year AAT Research titled, “Traumatic Brain Injury AAT – Therapy Animals as a modality to awaking, consciousness and rehabilitation from traumatic brain injury,” showing the medical community that therapy animals awakened two patients clinically diagnosed as permanently vegetative and receiving no other rehabilitative care.

Shannon’s dedication, expertise and insight helped to improve these patients’ quality of life and treatment/care plan until her patients passed away due to complications of their condition. – In Memory of Michael Besch and Sandra Fatholy. Rest in love and mahalo nui loa (thank you with all of my heart) for being such beautiful gifts of light in Shannon’s life. “The Love of animals is transformational.” – copyright© Shannon Dominguez 2019-present
